But the truth is, black women have been creating gorgeous products with clean, sustainably sourced natural ingredients far before clean was even a thing. So today, we’re spotlighting and spreading the word on some innovative, black-owned beauty brands to support today and everyday.

Almost every cosmetic product contains some sort of palm oil or palm oil derivative. To grow palm oil, growers burn down forests to clear the land. Animals lose their homes, developers aggressively seize land from indigenous groups, and the fires give off huge amounts of greenhouse gases, formaldehyde, cyanide, and small particles that cause serious health conditions and many deaths.

As a white woman, I’ve never been the victim of racial injustice. I know I’ll never fully understand what it feels like to fear for my life when jogging down the street, or feel unsafe in the presence of police.

But I am here to learn, to listen, to educate myself, to stand with you, and share the truth we all need to hear. I’m here to share my platform to help amplify the voices of black leaders and organizations, to support this revolution in any way I can.

We use a combination of natural and synthetic mica. When we use natural mica, we source only from suppliers in the US or Malaysia. These areas have (and enforce) ethical labor standards which prevent the use of child labor. We avoid all mica from India or Madagascar where labor standards are unregulated and child labor is rampant.
